Meet one of our newest RGK Pros, Andrew MacRae. Andrew hails from Coldbrook, Canada and made his USL Championship debut in the net for FC Tulsa in 2019.
Here's what Andrew had to say about Renegade GK when we sat down to chat about adding him to our RGK Pro Team!
We always like to have a bit of fun with our new Pros and see if we can make them crack a smile first. Here are a few fun ones from our quickfire questions that really get to the core of what makes Andrew a true Renegade!
Q: Favorite food?
A: Sushi
Q: Favorite pro team to follow?
A: Rangers
Q: If you could play for any club in the world which would it be?
A: Play for Scotland
Q: Favorite goalkeeper of all time?A: Kasper Schmeichel
Q: Do you have any pregame rituals?
A: I do not have any pregame rituals though I might watch highlight videos of other keepers that’s about it.
Once we’ve all loosened up a bit we dig into the journey that led Andrew to our brand. At Renegade GK we enjoy getting to know our team members, the challenges they’ve faced, the obstacles they’ve overcome. Q: Why did you want to be sponsored by Renegade GK?
A: The quality of the gloves is very good and the support you guys have shown me from the minute we started talking was great. It made me feel like you guys care and want me to succeed!
Q: Do you have any favorite Renegade GK glove series?
A: I definitely like the Renegade GK Eclipse!
Q: Give us a bit of background around your playing history.
A: During my youth, I played for Valley United. During college, I played for Acadia. Last 2016 to 2017 I played for Ottawa Fury and transferred to Larne during 2018. Currently, I am playing for Tulsa Roughnecks.
Q: Do you have a favorite quote or inspirational saying that gets you through hard times in net?
A: "The more you seek the uncomfortable the more you become comfortable."
Q: What are your dreams as a goalkeeper?
A: To play for Scotland
Q: What’s one thing about goalkeeping you wish you knew when you started?
A: The ability to be calm and patient when things aren’t going well.
Q: Let’s get vulnerable, don’t worry we won’t share this with next Saturday’s opponent. One thing you struggle with in goal today?
A: This would be a secret
Q: Describe the best save you’ve ever made?
A: Last-minute penalty save to advance to a final.
"I'm really happy to be back in Tulsa for this upcoming (2020) season. With the new ownership and the changes they’re making, along with the vision of the gaffer, it’s making next season look very exciting. I can’t wait to get back in, get preseason started and show the league what we’re about."
