Meet Renegade Sponsored GK Gregory Renteria
Sponsorship has become a critical element of Renegade GK's brand reputation. Accordingly, we concentrate on those individuals who perform under the bright lights and act as special champions for the brand due to their outstanding performance, success, and charisma.
Meet one of our newest RGK sponsored goalkeeper, Gregory Renteria. Gregory hails from Los Angeles, California, USA and currently plays for UCD Men's Club Soccer Team II.
Here's what Gregory had to say about Renegade GK when we sat down to chat about adding him to our Pro Team!
We always like to have a bit of fun with our new sponsored goalkeepers and see if we can make them crack a smile first. Here are a few fun ones from our quickfire questions that really get to the core of what makes Gregory a true Renegade!
Q: Favorite food?
A: Hawaiian BBQ
Q: Favorite pro team to follow?
A: Bayern Munich or Barcelona
Q: If you could play for any club in the world which would it be?
A: L.A Galaxy or L.A FC to start off.
Q: Favorite goalkeeper of all time?
A: Marc Andre Ter Stegen
Q: Do you have any pregame rituals?
A: I have to listen to a rock and roll song to get me prepared.
Once we’ve all loosened up a bit we dig into the journey that led Gregory to our brand. At Renegade GK we enjoy getting to know our team members, the challenges they’ve faced, the obstacles they’ve overcome. What sets RGK keepers apart from the crowd is what they do in silence, the relentless pursuit of perfection.
Q: Why did you want to be sponsored by Renegade GK?
A: The gloves are at the amazing quality for an inexpensive price; which is really helpful for kids like me in college.
Q: Give us a bit of background around your playing history.
A: Playing Since I was 5 years old. Notable Mentions: Smidt Tech High School Varsity (CIF DV Champions 2016-17), UCD Men's Club Soccer Team (2018-2019).
Q: What are your dreams as a goalkeeper?
A: Have a family that isn't in the same situation, financially, as I was growing up. Play soccer professionally and graduate with a degree.
Q: What’s one thing about goalkeeping you wish you knew when you started?
A: How to side-volley properly.
Q: Describe the best save you’ve ever made?
A: It was a double save after a penalty. I did an overhead save which went to the post and back to the striker. He shoots it to the opposite side I was but I managed to get up quick enough and swipe it out. Also, there was another save I had to do a Bicycle Kick because I was running back to goal.
As we wrap up with Gregory, please join us in welcoming him to the team! Don’t forget, for more information, or to keep up with all your RGK keepers, we will be posting regular updates and highlights pitchside as we follow Gregory and all our pros this season!
